How to Install the rfp.ai Browser Extension

The easiest way is through the Extension tab in Settings:

1. Go to Settings → API & Extensions → Extension
2. Click the "Copy API Token" button (one-click generation)
3. Your token is automatically created and copied to clipboard

Visit the Chrome™ Web Store to install the extension:

1. Click the rfp.ai extension icon in your browser toolbar
2. Paste your API token (from Step 1)
3. Click Save Settings

In any web form or RFP portal:

1. Highlight the question text
2. Right-click and select "Answer with rfp.ai"
3. Wait 2-5 seconds for the AI to generate an answer
4. Answer appears in the nearest text field
5. Review, edit if needed, and submit

Does the rfp.ai browser extension work with SAP Ariba®?

Yes! The rfp.ai extension works in SAP Ariba®, Google Forms, and any web-based RFP portal. Right-click any question text and select "Answer with rfp.ai" to generate responses instantly. The extension automatically detects form fields and inserts answers.

Which browsers support the rfp.ai extension?

The extension is currently available for Google Chrome® through the Chrome™ Web Store. Support for Microsoft Edge®, Firefox®, and other Chromium-based browsers is planned for future releases.

Do I need to copy and paste questions?

No. The extension detects form fields automatically. Just highlight question text, right-click, select "Answer with rfp.ai", and the answer appears directly in the text field. No copy/paste needed.

Can I edit answers generated by the extension?

Yes. Answers are inserted as editable text in the form field. Review, edit, and refine before submitting. The extension also shows trust scores (high/medium/low) so you know which answers to review more carefully.

Is my data secure when using the extension?

Yes. Your API token is encrypted and stored locally in the browser. All requests to rfp.ai use HTTPS encryption. Questions and answers are processed securely through the same infrastructure as the web app.

What happens if the extension can't find an answer?

The extension shows a notification if no relevant information is found in your knowledge base. You'll see suggestions to upload more documents or rephrase the question. Low confidence answers are clearly marked for manual review.

Can I use the extension offline?

No. The extension requires an internet connection to communicate with the rfp.ai API and generate AI-powered answers. All AI processing happens server-side for security and accuracy.

Does this work with multiple RFP projects?

Yes. The extension automatically uses your organization's entire Knowledge Base, which includes all knowledge files from all projects. You don't need to switch between projects - all your company knowledge is available instantly.

Why does Chrome show a "Proceed with caution" warning?

Chrome's Enhanced Safe Browsing shows warnings for newly published extensions that haven't built up trust signals yet (downloads, positive reviews, time in store). This is completely normal for new extensions. The rfp.ai extension is safe, open-source, and has been reviewed and approved by Google. You can proceed with installation confidently. The warning will disappear automatically as more users install the extension and it builds trust signals.

Extension icon not showing

Solution:

• Check that the extension is enabled in chrome://extensions/
• Pin the extension to your toolbar (click puzzle icon → pin rfp.ai)
• Reload the page after installing

Right-click menu not appearing

Solution:

• Make sure you've highlighted/selected text before right-clicking
• Check extension permissions in chrome://extensions/
• Try refreshing the page

Answers not inserting into form fields

Solution:

• Click directly in the text field before using the extension
• Some portals use custom input components—try copy/paste as fallback
• Check that JavaScript is enabled on the page

"Unauthorized" error

Solution:

• Verify your API token is correct (no extra spaces)
• Check you're on Starter plan or higher (Settings → Billing)
• Ensure token hasn't been revoked (Settings → API Tokens)

Chrome shows "Proceed with caution" warning

This is normal and safe to proceed:

• Chrome shows this for all newly published extensions
• The extension has been reviewed and approved by Google
• Source code is open and available for audit
• Warning will disappear as the extension gains trust signals (downloads, reviews, time)
• It's safe to click "Add to Chrome" and proceed with installation
